Romance Tips
Once in a lifetime that special someone comes along...the one with whom you
want to spend the rest of your life. And now you've decided that you want to show
her your love with the ring or fine jewelry that says it all. But how do you know
what she'll like, or more importantly, what she'll absolutely love? Here's a few
great tips to find that perfect ring or jewelry for the woman in your life.
Tip
#1: Relax!
It's normal to be nervous; jewelry can be expensive, and it has its own
jargon and and esoteric fine points. But it's a fundamentally fun item - one that's
fun to wear, fun to give, and yes, even fun to buy. Let's break the experience
down. At the store, you'll be greeted by a salesperson - generally an attractive
woman. (Sounding better already?) She'll ask questions, make suggestions, show
you items, even model pieces for you. If you buy something, she'll polish it,
put it in a nice box, and offer to gift wrap it. She might even throw in a jewelry
cleaner and a cloth. The woman in your life will love it, you'll score major points,
and you can rest easy - until her birthday. (When's her birthday again?)
Tip #2: Peek in her jewelry box
See what she already has. She may own a piece of jewelry that she
doesn't wear because it is a gift from an ex-boyfriend. In which case, buy something
nicer.
Tip #3: Look at her
That is, really notice her. What jewelry does she wear, and how often. Take note
if she favors, bold, chunky pieces or small, delicate items.
Tip #4: Develop sources
Get information about what she likes from her friends, coworkers, sisters, even
her mother. (More points!) But don't rely on one source. Get a second opinion.
Tip #5: Listen for hints
She might comment about jewelry during TV commercials, at the mall, or while window-shopping.
If she leaves a magazine somewhere, which just happens to reveal a jewelry ad,
she might be telling you something. Pay attention!
Tip #6: Give yourself enough time
You're not buying a couple of two-by-fours and a sheet of plywood. You're buying
a gift of love so take your time.
