Find Your Ring Style

You should be proud - you've done so much diamond research that you could teach a college course on the subject.  But right when you think you've got it all figured out, you find out you have to pick a setting as well!  (It's that band that holds the diamond.)  Now this is where her personal style comes into play.  Read through our useful tips to discover what style best suits your blushing bride-to-be.

#1: Listen to Her!

Paying attention to her jewelry likes and dislikes can help you find her perfect engagement ring. What metal color does she wear now? White or yellow?  What style of jewelry does she wear all the time? Is it contemporary, with bold styling? Does she prefer more feminine, vintage looking rings? Or would you say that the jewelry she wears is classic, something that will never go out of style?  Maybe she has a friend who recently became engaged. Does she like her friend's engagement ring? Why or why not?

#2: Look at Her Hands!

An elongated diamond, such as a marquise or oval, can make short fingers look sleeker.  Wide bands can make fingers appear even shorter than they are. Women with long fingers can more easily wear bold styles while a setting that's extremely delicate can get lost on larger hands.

#3: The Right Shape & Setting

Round diamonds are frequently the most popular, but again, listening to her will help you to know whether she would prefer a different shape, such as a marquise, oval or pear-shaped stone, or a square or emerald cut diamond. Fancier shapes, such as hearts, are another option. Think about whether she'd prefer a solitaire diamond, set alone in a band, or perhaps side stones.  Her clothes might be a great indication of her ring choice - conservative or funky?  Her ring is an extension of her style.

#4: Her Lifestyle

How will the ring fit in with her everyday life? Does she work in a profession where she uses her hands a lot? Does she wear her jewelry all the time or just for special occasions? She would probably prefer a ring that has a lower profile and that's less "fussy" if she’s more active.

#5: Her Size

Does she have rings that she wears on her engagement finger? Could you or a friend "borrow" it long enough to have it sized?

#6: Your Budget

Your engagement ring budget can sometimes be a top consideration. Don't worry if your budget is tight, because you can still buy a ring she’ll love.
